Neohabitat is a relaunch of the first massively multiplayer online roleplaying game, Lucasfilm's Habitat. Originally developed in 1985 by Lucasfilm Games (now LucasArts) for the Commodore 64, Habitat is considered the grandfather of modern MMORPGs. Neohabitat is an open-source project led by Randy Farmer, one of Habitat's creators, reviving the original Habitat world.

With the relaunch, Habitat is quite playable - you can create an avatar, explore, store stuff you find in your own apartment, chat with other residents of Populopolis and even buy yourself a new head if the one you've got isn't doing it for you :D

Habitat is playable with both the Vice emulator and even on original C64 hardware - instructions for getting online can be found at http://neohabitat.org

It's the creators' hope that many curious folk will find their way to Populopolis where they hope to hold events and give tours around this remarkable piece of digital history!
Catapultem habeo. Nisi pecuniam amnem mihi dabis, ad caput tuum saxum immane mittam.
I have a catapult. Give me all the money, or I will fling an enormous rock at your head.
