DCE FlickerFixer.....( NOS or in production)
« on: August 20, 2004, 07:10:51 PM »
Hi all,

Awhile ago I ordered a DCE Flicker Fixer from vesalia.
I prepaid my order (yep, I trust them) and all is well I suppose.

Unfortunatly I received an email my order did not ship yet.
The DCE Flicker fixer was out of stock.
They would ship as soon as they got new ones.
Fine, but I paid for the order the 19th of July. So it has been well over a month now.

Basically Vesalia states; we are hoping they'll be produced soon.

I know how annoying it is for a company to be dependant of other parties delivering things. So I understand vesalia's position. What you don't have you can't ship.

But now from my point of view. For a customer who ordered something it is strange to hear; 'we havent got your item and we hope it will be produced soon'.

Sure, for a spare part for a modern car that is ok.
But what about those flicker fixers. There is no huge market left. Just the people who still have the Amiga as hobby. So are they still being produced? I thought most hardware would be NOS by now.

What do you think?

Regards,
Erno

Hi,
I know what you mean. I also ordered a DCE-FF a month
ago, but then i got a email from Vesalia telling me
indeed they where out of stock and hoping they will be
produced soon.
Unfortunatly you prepaid them. You should just ask your
money back, because maybe, if you are again unfortunatly,
the DCE-FF will never be produced again...

I think once Vesalia gets enough orders, they'll have a batch produced.  I bought mine in December and got it that month.
Time to move on.  Bye Amiga.org.  :(

Maybe I should ask my money back.
I see amiga superbit does still have external units on their site. Perhaps it's better to contact them.

For the time being I wait for reply from vesalia. They are very responsive lately since I use ORDER as topic ;)

Get your money back and don't pay for something before YOU have it.

How you do that on ebay then? Pay on arrival or something? I order lots of stuff prepaid from serious legit companies. I thought vesalia was one of those, am I wrong?

As far as possible I pay on arrival even if it cost a bit more... but it's of cause not always possible.

Most sellers want to have the money before doing anything but most of the times one can negotiate to pay for the S&H in advance and then the parts on arrival. That way you'll lose less money in case the seller decide to "dissapear".

In some cases where the items are sold "with guarantee" I've even been able to pay for the parts after testing it at home, though it's usually hard to get this trough since then it's the seller who take the chance... paying for half the stuff on arrival and half after testing is sometimes possible in these cases.

The story unfolds;

Versalia emailed me yesterday they 'found' a flicker fixer.
(I wonder where they found it)

It's coming my way and soon (when I find time) I can start the fun by builing it into my amiga.

So....still sort of thumbs up for vesalia who took the trouble to find me a flicker fixer during their summer holiday.

I wish the Micronik Scandex scan doublers were still being sold.  I have one and it is great!
