Hi all,
Picked up an A3000 off Craigslist with the hope of it being a good machine. Unfortunately the battery damage on the motherboard has really toasted it. The biggest socketed chip nearby is out-of-commission; the pins in the socket got so corroded that they all broke off.
This Amiga 3000, besides the mobo damage, is in great shape, with a functioning power supply and everything else. It has all the latest revision chips. It's a shame. When I first came to look at the machine, it did power up, booted, and let us use it a bit, but it was pretty flaky and would eventually die. Since then, we did the work to pull the battery, and also took out the nearby chip, so the machine does not boot any more.
I'm offering this machine to anyone who can cover shipping or come pick it up. I'm in SF, CA.
If you want the machine shipped, I am interested to try this new 'Shyp' service who picks something up, packs it, and then ships it the least expensive way.
I have some photos somewhere of some of the damage, I think, but honestly, I don't really feel like opening it back up again and taking any more. Just trust me that the section of the motherboard by the battery is corroded and fried and would take some work by an experienced technician to repair. Or this machine could be parted out.
Thanks y'all!
