Quickpak who?
« Reply #30 on: September 23, 2008, 03:14:02 AM »
I don't think I remember ever hearing about Quickpak. Are they a company Commodore chose to manufacture the A4000T or are these some kind of Amiga clone?

A4000Ts can be made PAL or NTSC by simply changing a jumper on the motherboard (the same goes for A3000D/T and A4000D). The Back of the case will say NTSC, but that doesn't really matter. The PSU on it is a standard AT 110/220V switchable one so it can work both in Europe and N. America.

The QuickPak were a short run that had 060 cpus in them.  I remember the advertisements in '96 or 97.  But if Software Hut has them for the same price I would rather go that route.  I think theirs are 040's though.  I am tempted to get one, I will have to see....

No hard price yet, but it will not be many thousands. It will more likely be in the ballpark of $1,000.

/me prays the US financial market won't heal too quickly and the US$ will devaluate some more.... :-) I'm very tempted, but I'll have to do some very hard thinking and pondering before I decide to buy one.
Nevertheless: it's amazing that you even have found this lot. Three cheers for red! (how many units are we talking about here anyway?)

Does anybody have a picture of this Quikpak tower? Does it look much the same as the C= and AT 4000Ts?

Idea for new hardware: some kind of easy to install jumper switch.

I want one, even if I have to sell and swap all my amiga stuff to get one.  Including my ppc card.

Argh! I need a money-producing sofa too!

US$1K is about NZ$1600 (and getting higher by the week, aside from the very recent drops). And I dread to think what the shipping costs would be!

Ah well, still interested to know the final price out of curiosity!
