Hey I've just got previous version of Nathan's KSRS and it works fantastic so if you looking for decent price ROM switcher go for it!

What about uploading some pics of your hardware to the gallery here on amiga.org?

@DJ Base & all

I only have a prototype at the moment, and I don't want to post photos of that. I will post a photo of the commercial version as soon as I have them in stock :-)

I have finally added a picture of my KSRS V1.0 to my other post though :-S

Hello Nathan -

will the switcher fit the CDTV and still allow the cover to fit without interference?

@Beast96GT & all

You can click here XE.COM to convert to any currency. The conversion will only be valid on the day you do it though. Also, I notice that PayPal make up their own conversion rates, based on I don't know what. More than likely squeezing PayPal users for extra money!

Postage worldwide is the same as for my KSRS V1.0, which can be seen here KSRS V1.0 Thread. The price includes a nice strong mailing box, and regular air mail.

If your location is not Australia, U.S.A (any of the states), or E.U/UK, postage will more than likely be the same as E.U/UK rates (from my experience).

Regarding height issues on a CDTV (stock A600 too), this is a problem with direct insert into the ROM socket of the PCB. My KSRS V1.0 does not have this problem, the cable length allows you to place it where you need to. I am still waiting to hear from the manufacturer that I use, as to whether or not they can have the 40 pins imbedded into the PCB. If they can't do it (or it will be too expensive), I will use the ribbon cable method of connection again. Then height will not be an issue :-)

Also, I will do my best to keep the price of KSRS V2.0 @ AUD$25 per unit. If it's more, it will only be by a few dollars :-)

@1985BMWK75,

Are the cable parts hard to find and buy?  I have an old Amiga Kickstart switcher that has two broken pins and several bent ones on the part that clamps over the cable and gets inserted into the ROM socket.  Can you tell me where I can get the part that I need which connects to the cable and has pins to push into the Kickstart ROM socket?
How are you helping the Amiga community? :)

Hi all,

I just thought that I would let you all know how I am progressing on my KSRS V2.0 project :-)

I have amassed nearly all the components that I will need to assemble them. By buying in bulk, it allows me to keep the cost down, as well as the sale price.

I am just waiting on one component, so that I can take measurements, and plan the layout of the PCB etc. If I had that part, I would probably have the PCB's by now :-(

I will be completing this project, as I did with my KSRS V1.0. It's too late to turn back now anyway, especially considering all the time I invested developing the working prototype. And now the money buying all the IC's and other components.

I look forward to posting a photo of my completed KSRS V2.0...and helping them find their way to buyers :-D

If you want one (or several), place your pre-order by posting a reply on this thread. Once I have the PCB's, I'll then contact each person to confirm, then send you a PayPal Invoice.

Nathan

Sounds great, Nathan.  Please put me down for one.  Do you have an ETA for final completion?

@Chris

Cool, another potential customer :-D Regarding when I will have the finished product, ready to ship/post, I have no idea :-S I might contact my supplier, to find out when they expect that part. I will certainly be posting here when I know more :-)

@Beast96GT & all

I have received the part(s) I was waiting on so that I could design the KSRS V2.0 PCB  8) I should have it done sometime during the remainder of this week :-) I'll then send the file to my manufacturer on Monday. Judging from the time it took for my last batch of PCB's for KSRS V1.0, I should then have them in 3-4 weeks, hopefully less. I could have them made faster, but I would have to pay more. Since I want to keep the sale price as low as possible, I wont be putting a rush on the order.

Ohhh, I'm all excited! I can't wait to have a photo of the finished product posted, and orders coming in :-D

Wooo hooo! I finished designing the PCB, and have sent the files off to the manufacturer. What a headache (designing the PCB I mean)! It was a litttle more complicated than my simple KSRS V1.0, that's for sure.

I have already paid for them, and I have complete parts in stock to populate all 50 KSRS V2.0 PCB's :-) I should have the PCB's in stock in 2 weeks or so. I have also designed KSRS V2.0 to be easy on me. I don't have to strip any wires at any time. Both ends of the IDC cable use IDC connectors. I should be able to assmeble them very quickly.

Oh, and I added up the cost of all the parts etc, and it wont be as cheap as I thought. I will be selling KSRS V2.0 for AUD$30, not the AUD$25 that I had hoped. Still good value I think, considering the buyer gets a lifetime warranty, and unlimited technical support etc ;-)

On the back of the PCB, I have used some of the space to promote other people's Amiga related websites. Amiga.org is among them ;-)

Ok, I have been told that my PCB's for KSRS V2.0 are scheduled to ship on October 9. They are being sent by DHL, so I expect to have them in stock around October 13 :-D

It's getting close now! :-D
