Probably the best Amiga ever made.
Someone has to state the obvious and that someone is me!

Naah that was not a Commodore box, I thought we we talking about C= boxes. That was an Escom & Quickpak box. Dollar for dollar I'd still want an A3000T over a A4000T even if we are including post C= boxes.

Hehe personaly i never liked the A3000 (i think its ugly for one and no space for an internal cd-rom) im not a big fan of scsi either myself so ;) id take an A4000/A4000T over any A3000 anyday even the A2000 is more interesting to me but that me ;) (and no im not selling the A4000Ts theyre nice to have around if i get the urge for nostalgia).

Thea3000  tower has loads of space and the a4000 tower has scsi and its much better than the crappy ide interface. The a4000 desktop is the worst amiga ever made as for a 2000 i had the a1500 and it was crap compared to an a3000 the a3000 has built in scandoubler so you can use a pc monitor the a4000 was an underdeveloped pile of ***p compared to the well desighned and fault free a3000.i a4000.s have nearly all been repaired compared to my secondhand a1200 which was bought for 50 pound in 1996 and is still working with its ppc and blizardvision  and tower conversion with tons of addons . :-)  :-?

Thats interesting because I hate souped up A1200s, and was incredibly glad to ditch mine for my A4000 :-)

Mind you, I love all big box Amigas, and if I could, i'd own one of each. Of the big boxes, I have a 4000 and 1500 at the moment.

Commodore did make a small number of 4000Ts before they went bust.
Escom then got Quickpak to build them out of the parts were left in the factory..but atleast they made more than C= did, I`m just suprised Escom managed to sell them,AFAIK they were asking about £1200 for an 040 with 4mb Ram and no HD! :-o
On schedule, and suing

I have 2 a4000,s a non working tower and a dodgy desktop both have been repaired  before i got them but my a1200 has been working without fault since i bought it 1996 this much modified and hacked a1200 is more reliable and trouble free than any a 4000 desktop or tower .Anyway a4000 desktop is more like a heater than computer due to it beingv crap for space .I gave my a1500 away 2 years ago sad but it was a heavy old thing .

That was your problem... you bought pre-torn-up hardware....  Of course a motherboard that has been beat up and soldered and everything else isn't going to be exactly reliable...

The base 4000 is a MUCH more solid machine than the base 1200, though.

And, the 4000 can be better than the 3000 with a few fixes.  (Supplied by Phase5 - I still miss them)  Take out the junk 68040 processor card, replace with a Phase5 68060 with fast ram and SCSI, plus a nice CyberVision card...  Beautiful rig.  Of course, I may be biased.  ;-)

But, seriously... I've owned and used as a primary computer my 4000/040 (as both an 040 stock and then with the CS060)  and a 1200 with GVP'030.  No comparison.  The 4000 was a TON more stable.  Absolutely bulletproof, for it's time.  I have bought two brand-new 1200s, and neither of them were as stable as my 4000.  Heck, my 4000 is still a ton more stable than my basic A1200+FastRam, of which the case has never been opened!

The 3000 and the 4000 were C='s best two machines.  And the 4000 has more potential than the 3000, therefore, it's my favorite.  (Though the 3000 was better out of the box, with built-in SCSI and faster RAM)  The 1200, while a fun little toy, wasn't in the same league as either of them.
