@charmfx

One thing that I've found influences a lot is the quality of the pictures you present. Most times if the items are in very good condition and you present hires well focused quality pictures, it's a best seller. So you should've gone the trouble of getting better pics, it would pay off.

And to think I got an A4000T from german eBay with a PIV for 500€ 2 years ago ;) At the time I though I was going nuts, I can now sell it for triple the price (already have an A4000D), but somehow I can't  :-o

This morning I've got 57 watchers and 18 bids from 9 bidders...

Price still seems a bargain to me for a machine as clean and well kept as this but with 1 hour and 10+ minutes left that can still change.

usually I manage better images.  In this case, the images from the screen suffered from getting too close to read the data.

I think the tower looks ok, especially if you're looking at the thumbnail and not the enlargement.  It's all there and my feedback shows I do my best to clearly describe the state of things.

Sincerely,

I'm completely shocked that it went for that low. Sorry you didnt get more for it.

Maybe the collectors with the endless cash flow have all the Amiga's they need now?

Usually people complain that eBay prices are too high and now this...

If you sell on eBay this can happen too and I don't really feel sorry. Just like I don't feel happy for or angry towards people who get lucky with insane bids and sell for a lot. Auctions are a gamble; live with it or don't do it.

Does the quote "completely shocked" ring a bell? Sounds quite whiny to me at least.

@Flashlab,

I think you might be reading to deeply into that. I dont care enough to even begin to be "whiny"

Just a simple statment regarding the usual high prices of Amiga items on ebay.

I see; I wasn't trying to offend you. It's just that I keep reading that eBay is evil and prices are too high. Now the opposite happens and people still aren't happy (of course the seller isn't but that's not the point).

actually, it's about what I'd expected...considering the audio board issue and that this is an empty machine with the exception of the HD floppy, CDRW and the '060 processor.  The floppy and CD don't really add anything these days.

only reason I had the buy it now option on there was in case someone wanted to avoid any last minute bidding frenzy but I may have killed that potential myself by starting the auction too late so it ended on Monday in the AM.

In any case, I'm okay with it...and I'd expect that's about what a 4000T/060 should get today.  Hey, you've got to consider that's about 35% of what it cost me NEW and it's twelve years old!  That's saying a lot!
Sincerely,

Charm FX

@Flaashlab,

I wasnt offended at all. I understand what you are saying.

I just felt kind of bad for this guy. He seemed genuine with a nice machine for sale.

I dont know why I jump into these ebay threads. I dont even buy clasic Amiga stuff anymore. :lol:

It's hard to figure these things out.  The way it ended up the seller would have been better off selling the 060 seperate and putting an 040 in the tower.  Many of the 060's have been selling for 5 or 6 hundred or more lately and you can usually get 4 to 5 hundred for a nice 4000T.

the buyer ended up being in Germany.  I stated in the listing that I'd ship but hadn't included rates since I hadn't expected anyone to want to pay those fees.

I checked the shipping to invoice him today and putting the cpu in one 35 lbs. box and the rest..disks, books, keyboard, etc. in a second box the shipping via priority mail international to Germany from the U.S. came out to $240 U.S.!!! with a few bucks in there for shipping supplies since I didn't have appropriate boxes...(I got rid of original packaging a long while ago and the 4000T is bigger then most computers)

I've invoiced him and assume he expected this...if not it may get relisted.

Of course, it is clear to me that if someone in the U.S. had been willing to pay the buy it now of $1100 their shipping would have brought their total to about the same amount...(and been a bit less hassle for me).

I've ended up shipping several items internationally lately...seems like folks in the U.S. just aren't willing to pay the same amounts ...guess it has to do with the exchange rates.

Sincerely,

Charm FX
