The current auction question.

"Q:  Do you still have the key for the computer? Do you still have software that came with the machine? Thanks.
A:   If I had the key, I would sell it on eBay for $15 to $25. Workbench 3.1 is already installed on the hard drive. You should already be familiar with this method, because this is the way modern PC computers are set up. You do not get the software CD or disks. You have to pay extra for them."

$15 to $25 for a generic key????
No software disk, because current systems don't provide a disk unless you pay extra??? All systems I bought, even current ones come with recovery CDs. And anyway, how does that matter to a system from 20+ years ago that when sold came with the system disks?

But at least he responds to this question.

"Q:  Hi again, would you throw in the stand as well? my drives would fit great under them!
A:   Yes, but it would have to be shipped in a box by itself. I am sure that you would not want the stand to rub on or damage the Amiga 4000 computer. You will need the stand for the Amiga 4000, because without it, the keyboard blocks access to the disk drives, especially the lower one."

Though he doesn't mention how much extra that stand would cost you. It appears to be 2 2x4's about 2 foot long each, and 2 1x12's about as wide as the keyboard, plus a few screws.  So it would cost about $20 to build 2 of them. It would have been better to have it so the keyboard could slide under the computer to get it out of the way when you don't need it.

Actually, what he's doing is probably illegal in terms of licensing.  "Modern PC systems are done this way" indeed.

What he's doing is using the same single set of OS disks to install each different hard drive heading out the door.  Contrary to OEM system builders who purchase a license for every installation that leaves them, and from whom you can purchase or receive for free the original installation media.

He's not just a phuqtard, he's a thief and a pirate.  And those are my legally defensible opinions.  I hope someone at Amiga reads these threads.

Okay,

for those that asked for the e-mail he sent me....

>>The guy is a waste of air and skin, always has been, always will be,

Why do you say that?  Do you even know what you are talking about?  Have you ever met me?  Do you even know me?  No you do not, so stop talking {bleep} about me.

>>it's knobs like him that drive prices up and {bleep} the whole market up for us all.

I am not a knobs, but you are.  I study the Amiga and Atari ST market.  I am on eBay every day and I watch and keep a record of what Amiga and Atari ST items sell for.  Anotherwards, I do my homework before I list an item.  What makes my Amiga 4000 worth at least $500 is its new condition.  If I still had the original box for it, the computer would sell for over $1000.00.  It is the condition of an item that drives its value up.  So, the closer an item is to new condition, the more valuable it is.  And this is what you NOOBS seem to forget.  Or are you just one of those assholes that try to get nice things for nothing.

STOP TALKING {bleep} ABOUT ME IF YOU DO NOT  KNOW WHAT THE {bleep} YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT, NOOB !

Hmm... I guess he really tries to endear himself to the community he so gladly rips off.....

"I always washed my hands before using this computer..."

Yeah, I bet he did, to wash off the cr@p he talks all of the time, who would really write stuff like this in an advert, you couldn't make this up....

WTF

I just want to make sure nobody takes it personally the way he  talks. I think he has Tourette's or something. I wonder if Tourette's affects your writing as well as speach?  :-?

Ok its official. Just email him when he is sleeping.

Can people with Tourette Syndrome control their tics?

People with Tourette Syndrome can sometimes suppress their tics for a short time, but the effort is similar to that of holding back a sneeze. Eventually tension mounts to the point where the tic escapes. Tics worsen in stressful situations; however they improve when the person is relaxed or absorbed in an activity. In most cases tics decrease markedly during sleep.

It doesn't.

[EDIT]
In fact, Tourette Syndrome is characterised by at least one "vocal tic" which is very often a non-speech sound. The exclamation of obscenities (coprolalia) is actually less often associated with Tourette Syndrome. The Tourette sufferer who goes around shouting obscenities is a stereotype.

Dunno about Tourette's, but the guy has verbal diarrhea and a serious anger problem, can't anyone ask him a question without him going off the deep end?

Oh, and I wonder why no Paypal, have they banned him for having too many disputes?

No wonder he doesn't ship to the UK, Trading Standards would love to jump all over this guys nuts, has he ever sent anything out that was exactly as described?

WTF

Good thing he doesn't play the stock market, because that Amiga that he KNOWS is worth $500 didn't sell for that much.  I haven't checked, but I wonder if it will sell for the $399 or whatever he's asking for it.

I wonder how much not accepting PayPal hurts his sales.

I think things like this hurt his sales a lot more:

Q:    Does it incl the CDROM?   Oct-18-07
A:    Did you actually read the auction description? Did you even read the auction title? It states: Atari 1040STe with 4 megabytes of RAM, TOS 2.05, and a High-Density disk drive. Nowhere in the auction does it say that the monitor, hard disk drive, or CD-Rom drive is included.

What a charmer  I would never buy from someone as obnoxious as that, even if I didn't ask that particular question.

Why i would never buy from him...:

1. Winner agree to pay shipment - That's ok... But NOWHERE on the auctions says how much the man want's for it...

2. Please allow 10$ for handling  ... Normally I wouldnt even pay that much for shipment and handling togehter :-)

3. His answers on Q's

4. I read this Forum

5. Everything he sells is "Extremly Rare" ... "Better Than Beuatiful" and he always "Washed his hands before using it" ...

6. And -> "The artist who designed this died last year so its probaly going to raise in Value" ... WTF :-o

7. The way you can pay him  ...

8. Please allow 6-8 weeks delivery ? :-o  ... NOWAY !

9. You come up with something people !

10. Again - My IQ is over 20

I don't know which version of Ebay Doomy visits, but I've bought a completely white A4000 with some expansions (genlock, framegrabber) for $275 a few months ago on. The seller stated it as worldwide shipping, so Doomy should have been able to see it on US Ebay. There have been a few A4000s on Ebay from another Dutch seller, who sold them fo €350 (around $480). These machines came better expanded than Doomy's A4000 (3.1 roms, multiple GB harddisk, workbench disks, HD drives, DVD drive), and still he had to re-list them a few times before they even were sold.

@Doomy: get your figures straight. It's the market (multiple buyers and sellers) that defines the prices of goods, not just a single seller. And the market has declared a lot of times that a stock (and probably partially undressed) A4000, is NOT worth AT LEAST 500 bucks. It may get $500 MAXIMUM (not minimum). And an extra $500 for the original box? No way José.

But then again, Doomy is schooled in mechanics. Not economics :-)
