The most expensive Amiga peripheral ever
« on: March 30, 2007, 03:45:29 AM »
Back in 1989, I met a gentleman who ran an output service bureau.

He had a Xerox color printer, a whole family of Amiga computers with Macintosh emulation, PCs and... a 100'000$ postscript imagesetter.

Today, the Macs have been sold, so have the PCs.

However, the Amigas remains and so does the imagesetter.

The Agfa compugraphic model 9800 and its raster image processor is for sale.

The machine looks like this : http://www.c-doc.com/images/9800.jpg

There is also a film and paper developer for that machine, a Rapiline similar to this : http://cgi.ebay.ca/Rapiline-66-SP-Film-Processor-Cassette-Load-Imagesetter_W0QQitemZ170095093051QQcategoryZ26246QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

This machine was used to make the printing films for various magazines.

Anybody interested in putting Pagestream to some industrial use?
