Formatting a 1581 floppy using Amiga ?
« on: May 16, 2015, 11:17:51 AM »
Hi.
Is there a utility which would allow me to stick a 3.5" dd floppy into my Amiga and format it so I can read it on my C64 / 1581 drive ?

Browsing Aminet but am unable to find anything.
Mybe I'm punching in the wrong words.

 thanks.

I think I once used this myself to write .d81- images to floppies on Amiga:
http://aminet.net/package/misc/emu/c1581
Commodore KIM-1, PET-2001, CBM 8032, CBM 8050, CBM 8250LP, D9060, VIC-20, C64, C64c, 1541, 1541-II, 1571, 1581,
Amiga A1000, A1060 Sidecar, A500, CDTV, CD32, 1084S, A1200, A1200 Magic Pack from Petro, ex-custom-case A3000T (now a complete A3000T), repaired A4000T and looking for more :)

1581 disks are in standard MFM/PC format.  You would need a filesystem handler for the Amiga in order to handle the 1581 layout though.  I think there was one back in the day.

Search for '1581' on Aminet and you will find all files you need.
Life sucks. Then you die. Then they throw mud in your face. Then you get eaten by worms. Be happy it happens in that order... My Amiga 1200
