After Apple has announced they are dumping PPC, does anyone take PPC seriously as a desktop CPU?

My guess would be for their PPC workstations that go with their Power based servers.  That was the main reason behind the 970, to keep their line of workstations fast enough to keep their endusers happy.  Which they were not with the 60x PPC workstations.

Now IBM realizes one basic thing, the economics of producing 970 series just for their own workstations is not going to be subsidized by large Apple purchases.

Hmm... maybe someone should concider hinting to them about the A1 :)

After all, if it is a success.... then it would be worth their while supporting / funding the completion of the OS.

Maybe im in a dream world heh!

In a dream world, yes. Most definately. When you can add two, and preferably three zeroes to the install base of AmigaOS 4, then I'm sure IBM would be interested. With four zeroes, they'd pay for continued development of AmigaOS, no questions asked.
