Amiga 1000 no post
« on: January 18, 2014, 04:47:33 PM »
Hi there,

I have a Rev A Amiga 1000 that wont post.  When you power it on, there is a thin white line at the top of the screen that bounces briefly.

I have swapped all the socketed chips except the four even and odd chips.  I bought an 8361r5 chip on ebay (the original is an 8361r3) and a power supply that allegedly were from working Amigas.. no dice.  Ive tested the socketed chips in the a500 (the ones that cross over) and it works.  Ive tested the sockets themselves.. no broken traces that i can find.

Any idea what else might be wrong?  Not sure where to go next.  Caps look pristine and are one thing i havent messed with.  I just dont want to buy parts scattergun.

I've posted a video here to show what it's doing.  I elevated the brightness a bit on the monitor.. it appears that I'm getting a faint grey screen at switch on (you can hear the switch), and then when I turn it off, it's a faint blue screen that hangs around for a random amount of time before going black again.  Caps maybe?

Whoops.. sorry about that.. tried uploading via my camera's PMB program for once.  Guess it locks it by default.  It's unlocked now.

Thanks for pointing that out!
