http://msnbc.msn.com/id/13389952/site/newsweek/"Such mammoth databases are beyond the reach of librarians like Margaret Hedstrom, the top digital archivist at the University of Michigan. She works out of a makeshift lab stuffed with computer artifacts, including a BBC microcomputer, two of Steve Jobs's failed NeXT machines and myriad other defunct PCs, Macs, laptops, disk drives and connectors. She and a team of researchers devise ad hoc methods of making digital files more accessible. But, she warns, to solve the larger problem "you have to be systematic. This will require a lot of coordination." Otherwise much of the Internet's early years could be lost forever."
