Hi all.

Long time user, new to the forum.

I am having a really tough time tracking down an 060 board for my A1200. I don't need SCSI or more than 16MB of memory. Maybe 32MB, but, everything I do runs under 8MB anyhow.

I have a single 16MB 60ns FPM simm in my miggy right now.

I am using the Microbotics 33MHz 030 with a 40MHz FPU.

Should I bother with going ot a 50MHz 030 and FPU, if I can find them?

I'd really like to get my miggy upgraded before I reinstall OS 3.5.

I dont think your going to see any real difference between the 030's on a A1200. I've had a 25,33, and 40mhz in mine and I would never be able to tell them apart.

I used to have an 060 in my A4000 and it was pretty damn fast!. I've never had 060 A1200 though.

Going from an 030 to a faster version really doesn't do that much, going to an 060 is a huge leap though. Keep looking, when you have your 060 you'll be glad you did!

Getting hard and harder... nothing showing up in the places I have looked.

In the mean time, I am going to upgrade my 030 33 --> 50MHz and put on the faster FPU as well.

I figure for $90 and some solder (for the xtals) I should be good to go.

I already have an aluminum trap door mod with air vents that fits.

I have pretty much nothing to loose at this point.  :-(

I considered upgrading my 1200 to an 060, but really... why... you have to start hacking at the case to make it run cool... at that point you are better off running an emulator or AROS.

I'm going to keep my 1200 at 50mhz with 128mb of ram... no additional hacks and start setting up a pc or laptop with AROS.  Seems this is the closest thing to a "modern" amiga these days.

When my A2000 was alive, it has a 2630+FPU both 25 Mhz and at the other side my A1200 got a 1230/IV+FPU-50Mhz. The difference between them was not so great.

I have two CyberstormPPC cards.  One of them has the 68K side running at 66Mhz.  It is a rev.6 68060.  The other Cyberstorm has a rev.1 68060 running at 50Mhz.  The difference is night and day.  The 66Mhz card is a lot faster.
