MorphOS on My G4 Quicksilver 2002 933mhz
« on: June 21, 2011, 11:10:55 AM »
Ive downloaded MorphOS 2.7, burned it to a cd. When i try do boot from the cd i get a console failed error. I have even changed the dvd rom with other apple dvd roms. It runs a Radeon 9800 pro card, but i've changed the card with other ATI cards to see if it works. But every time it gives me the console failed error.

I found a video on youtube with instructions on how to boot the cd from openfirmware but same error there as well. Im begining to think that MorphOS dont support my machine at all even though its stated on other forums that All AGP G4 towers are supported.

Anybody got a sollution to this?

Dunno whether the 9800Pro is supported, the list of supported hardware lists the 9800 only (i.e. no pro).
Check supported hardware here:
http://www.morphos.de/hardware.html

Mind also that gfx card used with a powermac need a ppc bios.

Ive tried different ATI cards all with ppc bios. But the same error occur.

Update: I had to use Mac original Bios for my ATI cards instead of Reduced roms. So now it works :)))

Cool. :)

If plain MorphOS 2.7 feels a bit barren you can easily get a ton of apps and content by downloading the Ultimate Pack. If you haven't registered MorphOS you might need to download the pack first, reboot and then continue with the install (or else you might run into the 30 minute unregistered timeout before you manage to install it). If you go for it, take a look at the readme file as instructed.

Congradulations. Your system is almost identical to what I was running before upgrading my CPU. It should be more than adequate.
