Title: Super Silent Upgrade
Post by: jj on July 14, 2010, 11:46:55 AM
So Chuffed :)

Wanted to share my news.   Been trying to get a silent upgrade mini but they been going for more than I would like on ebay.

So I settled for 1.42 with ariport card.  Accidentally won it for £150 as even they been going for more than that.

Quickly conencted up to monitor ,keyboard etc in work  And its actually the 1.5ghz with 64mb vram.  Forget to check RAM but assume its 1GB if silent is that correct?  Got 80 Gig HDD.

Super sweet :)

The AI story also indicates that the new minis will ship with faster 5400RPM drives, ATI Radeon 9200 GPUs with up to 64MB of VRAM and 8x double-layer SuperDrives

MorphOS on the Mini is REALLY fast. I reg'ed it right away after trying it. OSX IMO is pokey at best on the G4 Mini, even with the max 1 gig ram.

A newer version of Mac OS would eat all your RAM anyway.

Then it leaves little memory turdlettes all over the house.  Not fun to clean up

To be fair, AmigaOS has more problems with memory fragmentation ;)
