AMINUX updated
« on: February 28, 2015, 12:17:21 AM »
Pascal has updated AMINUX

Aminux r3 changelog:
Updated linux ground
Updated to latest "stable" FS-UAE
Updated to latest AROS Vision
Created a 4GB FAT32 extra partition (8GB USB stick is required)
-> people can install AmigaOS there or add adf's

If you use a bigger USB-Stick you can use gparted (included) to resize partition or add more to the stick.

This is something I'd like to try. Hope the file will be available for download again soon.

the limit is 50 GB a day, AMINUX is 5 GB so it has reached limit rapidly. I will try to download it myself next week and upload it next week (if possible). Otherwise simple try to download it from time to time.

AMINUX based on MICROKNOPPIX for X86

MUST BE WRITTEN TO USB-STICK with "dd" or WinImageWriter32 or similar tools.

What it does:
It is based on KNOPPIX and boots into FS-UAE running AROS VISION 68k distribution done by Olaf Schönweiß.

It works with ATI, Nvidia and Intel GPU's.

The slowest system i had for testing was a 1.5GHZ Celeron with Intel915 Chipsset.
It worked good for ECS and AGA games.

Network is working out of the box if "wired"
Wifi has to be edited from Preferences Menu in Linux. Quit FS-UAE with F12.

For powering of you just need to press your "power button". A requester will appear.
PLEASE DON'T POWER OFF YOUR COMPUTER BEFORE LINUX DOES THE SHUTDOWN! IT WILL POWER YOUR SYSTEM OFF.

WRITING TO USB IS SUPPORTED.

Dang, and people complain about Windows and OSx being bloated   :-)

Seriously though, interesting, but daaaamn,... really needs some work. It's little more than a bunch of files thrown together. Not really what Id call a distro as such.
The same content and functionality could be offered for a few hundred meg.

Desperately needs optimising.

The Linux/host side is interesting though. Would be cool to see it get used with a proper distro.

The included development environments/compilers have much more than those 100 MB so I would like to see how you get everything below 100 MB. Added_Components are included for documentation/legal reasons and can be deleted (if you want to). But even then the rest is far above what you mention. And if it is only a "bunch of files thrown together" or not can be discussed. But you are free to do a better one yourself.

If you make a torrent out of it, I'll happily lend my VPS as seed box until the torrent is self-sustaining. I still have a few hundreds gigs of transfer this month. :)

it is Pascals account so I cannot say much

I myself have a account with unlimited transfer volume, the biggest problem would be to get it on the server

Still 404'd. :(

Pascal has moved it exclusive to his app store. So if you want it get it from there

http://aros-broadway.de/indiego/marketplace/index.html

I will propably go in the same direction offering my own development(s) by the app store
