Connecting pegasos to router
« on: November 21, 2004, 01:55:06 PM »
Allo,

I managed to get my A1 and router online the other day.
I'd like to add my pegasos to port LAN2 (A1 is LAN1).

I've connected it up but am unsure which settings I need to enter in Miami.

On the A1, the settings are as follows:
Static IP 10.0.0.16
Subnet mak 255.0.0.0
Default gateway 10.0.0.2
Localhost 127.0.0.1
Domain name system server 10.0.0.2

On the peg, I'm using a demo of miami.
In miami init, I chose the following settings:
Ethernet cable/ADSL modem
via_rhinepci.device

It then tells me it has found subnet mask 255.0.0.0 and default gateway 10.0.0.1.
Then it attempts to verify DNS servers and returns a message saying "Your provider does not appear to support automatic DNS recovery" and asks if I want to enter DNS addresses.

I enter 10.0.0.2 and am told Miami has verified this and would I like to enter another. I click 'No'.
Next I'm told it was unable to obtain the host name.
I then enter 'localhost', or leave blank - doesn't seem to matter.

If I then load miami, it goes 'online' automatically (with dial-up I always had to click 'online') but attempting to find a web page fails with the message 'unable to find hostname (url)'

Any ideas?

Cheers,
Robert.

When you use static IPs you must put your ISP's DNS servers into the Miami database "DNS Servers" page.
