Hm, LEGO used to be a hobby of me when I was (alot :-() younger... Strange foreigners

The very mention of LEGO just reminded me that recently I began the process of restoring my childhood LEGO to its former glory. I was amazed at how dusty and yellow some of it had become, now I'm stripping it all down and giving it a good clean. I have an insane amount so I imagine it is going to take me a while.

Yeah, same here. 3x under-bed roller boxes chock-full, 80x40x15cm each, and another box for all the models still in storage. Still used to spend hours and hours trying to find that one special part, though.  :insane:
Main A1200D: WB3.0, 3.1 ROMs, 2GB HDD, Blizzard 1230IV (64MB RAM + FPU) and a whole load of custom heatsinks... :flame:

Good stuff – some fascinating and well-balanced hobbies in here.

My main hobbies are subversion, letching, swearing and spelling – in that order.

I post rather infrequently, but thought I'd chime in here...

restoring and upgrading computers (including four Amigas)

programming computers (almost 40 years now).  I've got about 30 odd in the collection I think...I've lost count...I need to ping the network and see what answers....

workin on humanoid robots here in Japan....you've probably seen some of them on the Discovery Channel.  You may have read of the robot in Japan controlled by the brain of a monkey at Duke University....I work with that robot.

fossil hunting
flintlock muskets
scuba diving
mathematics
raising banana trees

oops....forgot to add....
artificial life (alife).  I did the Tierra port for Amiga.  I ended up in Japan working for Tom Ray (look up Tierra and Tom Ray on wikipedia) on account of that.....got in the NY Times on the front page of the science section (Nov 25,1997)

Mutilating cattle and devil worship.

If I find the time I'll also indulge in a bit of fiddling about with my Series 3 LR, EXUP 1000, 650 BSA, 750 Bonnie.  Listening to Zep, Black Sabb, JMH, Rush, Motorhead, Metallica, etc, etc.  Watching films - generally scifi, horror, British thrillers and classics.

I was a hooker, but I gave up Rugby (Union) long ago.

I'm restoring a 1955 Studebaker Speedster. Right now it's more a matter of finding and buying parts. I got the car as a partially disassembled project with many things missing.

I just sold all my Amiga classic hardware to fund more parts for the car. All that's left for me now with Amiga is my A1.

Hi

When not mucking around with my Amigas I tend to think about mucking around with my Amigas. Not that I have much time for this cus of mucking around with my Amigas... :-)

Oh, ok :-)

Music - I love listening to music. Some of the artists in my iTunes library are currently:

Aerosmith, Blur, C64 Orchestra, The Chemical Brothers, Coldplay, Corinne Bailey Rae, Depeche Mode, Holy F**k, KT Tunstall, Kylie Minogue, Madonna, Nelly Furtado, Oskar, Porcupine Tree, The Prodigy, Radiohead, Skin, Skunk Anansie, Tan Hauser Gate, Thom Yorke, The Vines, Zero 7

(Current favourites in bold)

Radiohead are a permanent fixture as a favourite. Anyone who knows me at all knows I really admire them. Bloodline's band Tan Hauser Gate are also in there - check them out ;-)

I also (try to) write music, though this is less of a hobby at the moment and more of a self-created chore due to the fact that I have very high standards and probably think about it too much

Studying is taking most of my time at the moment. I'm training as a Speech and Language Therapist, which in many ways is an extension of my existing interests in language and anatomy/physiology. I'm particularly interested in etymology, and often find myself thinking about words and how they relate to each other and where they come from - see, I told you I'm dull

I like playing with and walking my dog Marvin. I run and work out in the gym - though this is another one which switches from a hobby to a chore

I'm a total geek and like retro games (hence the Amiga) as well as more modern compuers, namely my MacBook and my iPhone. I am also building a MAME cabinet. It's a looooooooong term project :-)

I had a '54 with a chopped top/ lowered (old salt flats car when I got it back in '66) It ended up with a 454 Rat motor, that would pull 11 sec quarters way back in 1969.
That was a beautiful car!
