I have, on WinUAE, set up a system using one of those pre-installed versions of Workbench, I think it was called ClassicWB. With that distribution, the workbench will have icons on it other than just the available disk drives on the Amiga. Items such as programs, quick launch stuff, etc. will all be on the desktop as links to the programs.
If I try to, on my A1200 (3.1) or A3000 (3.9) put anything onto the desktop and then reboot, the icon is gone after reboot from the desktop. How does one get their workbench desktop to work like the ClassicWB setup I described on my WinUAE? Namely, I'd like to leave shortcuts on the desktop, in the same fashion as Windows.

For more info, are you using new ROM's from Cloanto or is this an older machine?
