@Pyromania

Can you elaborate a bit more on the 'app-based cloud storefront' piece of this announcement? Does that mean there are native AmigaOS, MorphOS, and AROS software clients where users browse available titles, purchase, and then download -- or is it the same PayPal-based web page as before?

If it is app-based, is it Hollywood-based?  How are payments handled? Could you attach a screenshot or two of the 'Project Metropolis' app users would see? Thanks!

Edit: Does this mean Aladdin 4D v5.0 will be available for sale again once the storefront is up?  Any other titles you know of yet that will be available at the launch? :)

"How do you know I’m mad?" said Alice.
"You must be," said the Cat, "or you wouldn’t have come here."

I just started using Amazon.  So far so good.

I don't know anything about Google Checkout.

As far as Paypal goes.  I waited for YEARS for them to let me use the money in my account.  They said we have placed a limit on your account.  Your limit is $0.00  WTF?!?  When I signed up they said I could use the money to buy stuff.  But many years later when I went to buy something I find they place a limit on me of $0.00.  They kept happily letting ppl put money IN my account.  But nobody could ever take money OUT.

There were no complaints or disputes or anything like that.

This went on for years.

So I had a letter sent to the Governor of Texas, Rick Perry.

A few months later, BAM!  The state of Texas siezed my paypal funds away from Paypal.  Paypal did not like this and they closed my account.

Paypal is a criminal organiztion.

So I have to pay $39.96 to access the application and download it into my Amiga 1200 to then use the application itself to browse and buy software online through the apps and see what new apps and games are available for me in my A1200?

What if in one year I cancelled my subscription, does that mean I cannot use the App I installed into my A1200 anymore?

Ones I pay the $39.96 yearly subscription will there be a link for me to download hte application? Is the name of app called Metropolis?

There is no "application", it's just a website. And there are no devs that are ever going to use "Project Metropolis".

The yearly fee of 40 USD would have to be paid by the developer, for the privilege to have his software listed on said website. You, as a customer, would only pay for applications you purchase.

But you really don't need get interested in any details. Project Metropolis is just another excuse to create 'press releases'.

Hear, hear!

Paypal once couldn't collect 10 euros from my bank account (most probably due to an issue with their own servers). I only found out about it 2 months later, at which point they tried to force a bill of 100 euros down on me.

End of story was that I didn't answer any of their mail and, after just another 2 months, they eventually gave up and asked me for a mere 8 euros (not on top of the 10 euros, but exclusively).

EDIT: Just contacted DiscreetFX over their contact form. I hope that one is working and they'll receive my mail.

There is an application, actually. One that is available for MorphOS, AmigaOS and AROS

As far as I remember it from the top of my head, the 40 USD are also not for one year but several (3, I think).

It's kind of like Steam and the likes.

Aladdin4D 5.x can't currently be purchased from DiscreetFX. However, the rare and sought after boxed version can still be purchased from Amigakit.

Well, where can I get this application from then? The website does not provide a downloadable link for the application.....or...wait...I get it now. I have to pay the money first before I get the link to download the app from the first place. I see.

Do I just pay by paypal using the email address and that is that or is there like an online shopping cart or something?

Is Aladdin4D 5.x not available on that day because of the 13th Bakhtun of the Mayan Calendar?
