Do you really need a 68060 processor in your Amiga 2000, or is this just to boost your stupid ego?  I do not know of any Amiga software that requires a 68060 processor.  About 90% of all software for the Amiga computers was programmed and sold between 1985 to 1990.  The ECS and Kickstart / Workbench 2.04 was released around the middle of 1990.  So, what do these facts tell us?  They tell us that 90% of all Amiga software runs the best on the OCS, a 68000 processor, Kickstart 1.2 / 1.3, and Workbench 1.2 / 1.3.

Surveys show the 030/50 is the best for compatibility,
for more speed it usually is not justified unless running Napalm, Genetic Species or the like.

Stupid ego? Really?

Who the EFF are you to determine what he should or should not have in his 2000?
With that attitude I highly recommend you walk away from this and any other decent forum and not come back.

Buh Bye!

@HGC

If he wants to find a 68060 why not?  It's his hobby and his choice.

Years ago, I purchased my A2000HD.  It came stock with 68000 CPU, SCSI controller, hard drive and single floppy drive, Kickstart 1.3 and Workbench 1.3.

However, some time later, I upgraded to Kickstart 3.1 and Workbench 3.1 ...

I added some more memory, a CD-ROM drive and a flickerfixer card.

I often wished that I had an accelerator board, but other expenses were more important at the time.

However, I was able to run that ancient Amiga on dial-up internet using ppp, AmiTCP/IP and AWeb-II.

HGC = Doomy/doommaster.
In this light; could anyone be surprised by his opinion?  ;)

I hope that the TF2060 and Warp560 (Warp2060 would be even better ;D) will become available. We just have to find a good number of 060s...

Hi Sheepz, is it specifically a 060 CPU you want or something to make your A2000 faster?

There are a couple of recent options if it doesn't have to be an 060. As well as the Apollo Firebird you can also get the PiStorm: It replaces the 68000 CPU with an adapter and a Raspberry Pi 3 which then runs software to emulate a fast 68030. (loads of results if you Google it)

I agree, its very pricey,but you essentially get a lot for the price, rom switcher,ethernet(wifi),fast IDE,,16bit audio,graphics card ,USB etc. all on the fast slot,bypassing zorroII bottleneck . price those cards individually and you will likely come up with a price that is very close.. Assuming you want all that stuff of course :) Prices of 060 have become ridiculous,but you can usually find a rev1 cheap(reasonable??) if 50-66mhz suits you ok. Imho it is an amazing card.

Hi Andy

As I said, I now have a TF536 which I am now more than happy with. Its just I dip in and out the Amiga scene and was just wondering what's available. I had a Pistorm on my A500+ but it didn't really do it for me. I like the building up of machines, more than the software side (anyhoo I have it for sale on eBay now as I have a A4000 project to pay for!)

Ah, sorry. I'd not noticed that the thread was started over the summer and I missed your post saying you'd got a TF when scanning through the conversation.

Terrible Fire does not appear to have an FPU, does it?

It appears to depend on the board. The TF536 doesn't, but the TF534 does have an FPU

Remember back in the days when one could buy accelerator boards with both FPU AND a decent amount of RAM?

The TerribeFire2040/60 will come out, but i guess it will be next year by then, as the TF360rev3 and the TF4060 need most current attention.

Has TF cards been reworked to support A2091 or other scsi HD cards?  The older TF cards don't apparently.
Take it light...... :-D
