What Kickstart version after upgrade to OS 3.2.1?
« on: December 31, 2021, 11:18:56 AM »
I've upgraded from 3.2 (with physical 3.2 Kickstart chips) to 3.2.1 today.

After the upgrade I got into a reboot loop and so simply reverted back to my older startup-sequence and got back to my desktop but wonder if I'm missing anything, especially ROM updates.

I've added 'SetPatch >NIL:' after the Loadmodule section in startup-sequence and addes L:System-Startup to the Loadmodule line. Using the 'Version' command I can see Kickstart is 47.96 and WB is 47.3. is the Kickstart version right for 3.2.1?

I use Loadmodule because I run Atapimagic, so prefer to do all the romupdates through that, rather than go back to Blizkick again.

Here's the area of startup-sequence I've updated. They are the first lines after the version comments.

Code: [Select]
If Exists C:LoadModule
   C:Version Exec.library version 47 > NIL:
   If Warn
      C:LoadModule L:System-Startup LIBS:modules/AtapiMagic ROMUPDATE
   ELSE
      C:LoadModule LIBS:modules/AtapiMagic
   EndIf
EndIf

SetPatch > NIL:

I think I've worked it out. The updates and setpatch probably won't change the Kickstart revision will they? They patch the OS with the appropriate fixes. If I want to see an updated Kickstart version I would have to use Blizkick or burn new ROMs.

One of these days I'll get around to updating my 3.2 to 3.2.1, maybe then I can check this out myself. Workbench and Kickstart versions can be updated through an update (especially significant updates). 47.102 is what your KS version should possibly be according to the Workbench Nostalgia page here.

I have Roms 3.2.1 roms installed and ive noticed theres some updates from Hyperion.. There is Update 3.2.2 and a Hotfix 3.2.2.1
Do i have to install Update 3.2.2 first then Hotfix 3.2.2.1 or can i go straight to Hotfix 3.2.2.1?

I know there is an update 3.2.1 But i think that was for people who had the first roms before 3.2.1 ? I bought mine already updated to 3.2.1 so i can miss that one out..

The hotfix is only needed if you installed the broken 3.2.2 earlier. The new 3.2.2.1 archive contains all you need. If you are currently are on 3.2 or 3.2.1, install the 3.2.2.1 update. If you are already on 3.2.2 install the hotfix. Both are contained in the 3.2.2.1 archive.
