Amiga Sidecar A1060 upgrading RAM
« on: November 22, 2015, 10:58:46 AM »
Hi,

I actually own this extension for my A1000 : a Sidecar A1060.

There are already 512 Ko on the motherboard.

I saw on the web that i can reach 640 Ko with an old ISA XT memory board.

I own this one, with 2 Mo on the board :

But during the boot of the PC, it cannot see this new RAM ...

It is sure that we can upgrade until 640 Ko on the A1060 ?

If so, do you have some ideas ?

Thanks.

How have you configured the dip switches on the ast board? What banks are populated.

The memory can be used as base memory and EMM depending on how it's configured.
2mb sounds like it was probably configured purely as EMM, which could be useful for software like 123 (EMM was created by Lotus, Intel & Microsoft). EMM is banked ram that only is supported by specific software packages.

Thanks for your answer.

--> The four bank RAM are filled.
--> I tried :

SW1/1 OFF SW1/2 OFF SW1/3 OFF SW1/4 OFF and SW2/7 OFF SW2/8 OFF

But don't work : i stay at 512 Ko at start.

And :

SW1/1 OFF SW1/2 OFF SW1/3 OFF SW1/4 ON and SW2/7 OFF SW2/8 OFF

But don't work too.

What switching do you advise me ?
