Haiku R1/Alpha 1 released

I downloaded both the ISO and the VMware image.   I think its interesting, boots up real fast in a VM (I'm running a Gateway Core 2 Quad though..lol).  Seems very useable, has a browser (lol) and in general is a-ok.  I havent tried any of the downloadable BeOS apps, just played around with it for a little bit.

Much more useable than any Amiga OS we have right now.

Explain me one thing though, how does one laugh out *loud* in parentheses?

why dont you figure it out and get back to us.  (LOL)

@persia:
I agree.. a UAE port would be cool.

@whomeverwascryin:

When I said more useable than Amiga OS/MorphOS, I was comparing it to how long its taken them (5 years?) and look where they're at.  Then how long OS4.x and MorphOS has had and where they're at.   Another one is that they're more informational messages about whats going on.   I'm sure this will install on a x86 based Mac Mini...hmmm.   If UAE ends up getting ported, they may have a fan in me.  I know I have a spare x86 based Mac Mini.  :)

@the_leander:
LOL!!!

dont think that just because I said Haiku was more useable did I think MorphOS or Amiga OS was an inferior OS.  I like them both, just pointing out that Haiku is "compatible" with BeOS binaries just like MorphOS aims to be able to run 68k Amiga OS binaries and like Amiga OS should be (with respect to Amiga OS classic binary compatibility).  All three have a embedded base (shareware, software repositories etc) except our beloved OS of choice takes forever to get to hardware that we want.

What is the "basic office suite" that MorphOS and AmigaOS has?  I dont see one.   A modern browser for MorphOS and AOS?  I think it depends on your definition of modern. (LOL)
