Post by: trip6 on August 09, 2022, 05:44:16 PM
All,
In your opinion what are the best and worst versions of Individual Computers ACA 12xx Accelerators for the Amiga 1200 and why are they the best\worst?

Thanks.

It's a bit like a car. Depends if you want a cruiser or something zippy. I have a 1233n-50, 1211lc and 1231. I haven't received the 1231 yet.. The 1233n runs brilliantly at 55mhz but I found it's more comfortable to use at 28mhz. 50mhz is like driving a sword through your project... not everyone wants a PC experience.  The 1211lc is recommendable for anyone not on an 030 trip, speedy card, easy to fit and compatible. One thing with many ACA cards is their circumstance... they run well on a modern psu and prepped mobo. If you don't want to be an aircraft engineer running a system and like old-skool then they're not really suited but they are German excellence and Jens at Individual Computers has done a masterful job of them.

I bought an ACA1221 (Full 32bit 020 version), fully unlocked it. Also sent it back for firmware upgrade to make 28MHz setting, 50MHz.
Had it running every day, 8 hours a day, for last 5 years and not one issue (at 50MHz, stays at 48degs). ACA cards are also handy as you can load roms from HDD, great for testing new custom roms.

My fav is the one with 50 MHz 68030 and 68882, and 128MB RAM.

Oh, that’s right…
