Not something you see everyday on ebay, but still kinda dodgey
« on: February 06, 2012, 09:19:14 AM »
I found this while browsing ebay:
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Amiga-X86-OS-3-9-High-End-Classic-Amiga-Platform-/220947760260?pt=AU_Computers_Vintage&hash=item3371834484#ht_500wt_1140

Ultimately it's pretty much a discussion about piracy, but just curious what other people think about selling this sort of thing. Errs on the side of dodgey in my humble opinion.
Near as I can tell this is where I write something under the guise of being innocuous, but really its a pot shot at another persons/peoples choice of Amiga based systems. Unfortunately only I cant see how transparent and petty it makes me look.

If there's no ROM license, it's illegal.
I can see why this sort of thing appeals to some, but for people like me WinUAE still feels like WinUAE, not an Amiga, no matter whether you can see Windows or not... I'll stick to my real Amigas, thanks.

To be fair, it may come with legal copies of both WindowsXP and AmigaOS/Kickstart files, but it doesnt mention it if it does. For me that's what decides whether I think its dodgey or not.

Exactly. I'd bet that given he doesn't say it, though, he's using cracked XP and pirated Kickstarts. Otherwise it'd be in big flashing letters.
