Hello fellow NAPALM Gamers and Amiga Owners...
I'm having trouble runing ClickBOOM's NAPALM
On my A1200 w/Voodoo3
I have all the nessesary software installed, such as
Picasso96 2.1b and RTG master libV42...
My system is running smoothly...
The game loads fine...
But the screen really flicker when the animated ClickBoom
logo is loaded at the menu screen... You can hardly see anything
on it... My theory is that some of the c2p rutines in some way
dosen't work with my system... I've tried All of the
included ones in the game (AZURE, SUZY and the new Luzy)
I've tried to update to CrimsonCrisis v1.4 exe and nothing seems
to work...
Have anyone out there experienced the same syptoms
Or am I to be without NAPALM...?

c2p (chunky to planar) routines are only used under AGA. They have no use under a graphics card! So it's not them causing the problem.
-
Napalm works perfectly on my 060+Voodoo3 (Mediator)....
Sadly NAPALM gameplay sucks..... Earth2140 rocks :-D
-
You shouldn't need any c2p routine with gfx-card. I don't remember now what you should select in rtg-master prefs, but try to not select any c2p if it's possible :)
What screenmode you have selected? The best mode I've got to work with Napalm is 640x512x8bit on Voodoo3. Lower 8 bit resolutions work too.
Anyway Napalm works great on Voodoo3 here... it just flies with higher resolutions too.. and from different planet when compared to zorro2/aga systems :)
-
Napalm's gameplay rules with two player game (serial/tcpip)! :) Haven't played any game for years as much as it with my friend. We didn't warm up to Earth2140...
-
Turn Interlace and doublescan off in Picasso96prefsmode.
Voodoo cards dont support interlace modes.
-
Thanks buds!
I'm a rookie in amiga knowledgement so I'll try
to skip those c2p routines :)

V1.4 runs smoothly on my Voodoo3 3000 / 060 / Mediator
Only problem I have is that the cd audio screeches and pops for about 2 seconds when it first accesses an audio track.
CD is fine however.
Have you got enough Video Memory assign to your Voodoo.
Latest MediatorDrivers ?
Whats your Memory Window set to ?
Check your env: settings

Ok...
I'm still lost here...
After following all of your advice
The flicker has reduced and the game is not
hanging anymore, but the flicker is still there
and inside the game there is a transparency of
the "load mission" screen... I don't understand this?
I'm running out of ideas...
I've got the new mediator drivers...
Voodoo mem is set to 8mb as they suggest from
elbox...
It's a downer :-(

have you configured the screen mode you are using in nalpalm?
ie if you running it in 640x480 16bit check the picasso96mode settings..
what screenmode you trying to run Napalm in?
dont use fake screenmodes.
-
Thanks all of you!
Finally The problem is solved!
I found out, after alot of testing, that
I just had to change the screenmode of my Workbench
from 1200x1024 to something lower, for the game to work...
Guess it must be some kind of a memory problem...
:-?
