Most WHDLoad installs only work with the original disks. Most ADFs on the net are cracks. Some installers have been updated to support the legalised cracks from back2roots.org, but in general WHDLoad installs only install the original, uncracked versions. This is A) because the installer slave author cannot be expected to support all the different cracks out there and B) WHDLoad is not a tool for piracy.

ok that makes sence. Guess I am going to have to pick up an old 600 off the net and dig out those old floppys. :)

imho using whdload for emus is plain stupid.

whdload is for the rEAL amigas to work when our machines are too heavyly expanded.

and most of all "it uses orginals , and how do u install orginals on a pc without an amiga floppydrive???? .... "

i use whdload everyday, i am one of the big suppliers of orginals (i have over 1500 boxed orginal games) and i love it , what you showed in this post earlier is just a minor issue and a normal one for newbies at whdload, the docs explain everything about all the roms and how, and all installers say in the readme if the darn slave needs it or NOT)

anyway welcome as an whdload user, but remebr this is ment to be for REAL amiga's not emus .., the only good thing u can do with whdload at a emu atm is grabbing snapshots much more easier unlike on our real AMIGA's.

have fun and dont diss the whdload as there is no reason to at all, its wonderfull

Not if you want to be able to run your games from inside WinUAE, rather than selecting ADF.

That is one of its uses, yes.

WinUAE supports the catweasle PCI card. Also, you can WHDLoad install it on a real Amiga, then transfer the installed game to the PC.

Calm down! Theres no need to be so hostile.

Its meant for everybody.

Eh? :-? How is it any easier to grab screenshots in UAE with a WHDLoaded game than an ADF loaded game? its exactly the same!

He's entitled to his opinion. WHDLoad is a fantastic thing, and I use it to play games on my A4000 and A1500, but setting up some installs is a tricky business, and can be confusing. Give the guy a break!

He he, gotta love people. :)

Well I'll be honest, now that Tickly  explained things to me about WHDLoad not liking cracked disks, I can see why a lot of my past attempts failed. Though don't get me wrong, not all of my Amiga software is or was copies, I did spend a lot of cash on my stuff, thus supporting the companies as a loyal cultist should, despite the fact that that many of those companies took my money and invested it into making more games for the PC, and left Amiga.

Anyhow it is good to see there are still a few people out there who take the little things too seriosly, it gives the rest of us something to laugh at. :)

Not so. I boot my computer straight into a AmigaOS3.9 setup, and its really nice to be able to click an icon inside Workbench to boot a game, rather than selecting the game, change parameters to get the game to work and restart.

mr tickly:
u said:

i was comparing a reAL amiga against UAE , not a pC uae with a PC uae WHD.

i know what u meant by the rest and i am sick and tired of people diss'ing down whd just because that their pirate games doesnt wanna install etc,
or that they downloaded it from a fserv and that it doesnt work for em.

anyway i wasnt responding to his first post, i was more or less answering to all of it in one go and to me it seemed rather unlikely that he have a catweasel (like only 5 people has bought by now maybe ? ) , anyway yes i will use this (WHD) on my amigaone in uae etc, but this is not what i am saying, i am saying that he is better off with adf images anyway and that WHDLOAD is for orginals or legalized ADF's and there aint too many of them yet.

beyond that it wasnt meant to be hostyle.., it just upset me a twinky high :) so i am sorry if i flamed someone, i was just trying to point it out VERY LOUDLY! :)

I guess it means just that; the version of citadel you have isn't supported. Is it a crack?

ok , this is not a supported version of the game for whdload , or the disks simply is broken.

whdload is only for orginals and not always is all orginals even supported , due to people must send in and report that their orginals wont work with the whdload version/slave.

my best guess is , the file is a crack and not supported.   , go to whdload.de and check readme if your version is supported.

cheers

Oh man!

Well obviously this game is abandonwarez or else it would not be on Back 2 Roots, if anyone can hook me up with a Hard Drive image of it, that would be peachy or something to that effect.

 Thankx for the info.

The problem is, just because a software company has given the go ahead for back2roots.org to spread a given game, it doesn't mean that back2roots.org necessarily host the original version. A lot of original games can't even be put into an ADF file because of their copy protection, or sometimes the original game just isn't available to dump, so a crack ends up on back2roots.org.

Occasionally a WHDLoad installer gets updated to support the back2roots edition, but not always.
