Title: CF Card image with WHDLOAD
Post by: cpaek72 on November 17, 2017, 01:47:28 AM
Anyone know if there is an image out there that exists for us to download and write to a cf card that has whdload, games and classic workbench loaded for an Amiga 1200? I know some people are selling and there are tutorials out there, but I've tried a few times and failed. Just curious to see if there were pre-loaded images we can download for CF Cards. Thanks.

As far as I know this is the only complete one but it is tailored for Vampire users. It is what I use.

It's weird that there isn't more right? I've looked everywhere and nothing to be found. Would be really cool to see the community create custom images like retropie images for raspberry pie.

Will check this out anyway..Thanks!

You could look some images on the EAB FTP.
Mostly I compile my one set of games.

What do you find difficult to put the games on a CF card?

I also watched a lot of tutorials and they explained it very well for beginners.

How would you even image a CF card in a format the Amiga could read?  +1 for just putting the files on there directly.  If you need a "leg up" you could start with one of the pre-formatted cards AmigaKit, etc., sell.  Also, there's usually plenty for sale on ebay.  ;)

Cloanto says that the Amiga operating system must be licensed to to be available. From https://www.amigaforever.com/kb/13-122

So, the answer to the question "Can I put Amiga ROM and operating system files on my web site?" is that you probably can, in accordance with any applicable laws, but you need a proper permission (license) in order to redistribute something that you do not own.

Thanks I'll look into that. The tutorial I was watching got really weird where he was repeating steps and skipped through the process so quickly that I pretty much got stuck. I'll try again..thanks.

This is the tutorial I was using by the way..it's pretty good until you get half way through it.

In many cases I suppose someone still owns the copyright for the games, just like for Workbench itself. So that's why nothing "official" exists. But it's easy enough to find pre-compiled WHDLoad installations for most games if you look around. Just drop them on a CF card, HDD, HDF file or whatever you're using and off you go.
