"Honey!"
Even if Dragon is still real, will it be stuck on OS3.9 or will there be a porting license for coldfire to run  OS4? No flames please, just thinking out loud.

@Plaz

They would only pay the licence for OS4 on th SharkPPC.  The coldfire part of this product is not aimed at the OS4 market.  The dargon look like it could more or less run standalone and a PPC CPU module could probably be used.

So far Elbox have only stated that the SharkPPC can be used.  The PPC CPU module is pure speculation on my part.

The SharkPPC makes more sense for Elbox as it will fit in the mediator 1200/3000/4000.
Although I think elbox have their own fab, so it be less of a deal for them to do a card exlusive to the dragon.

IIRC Elbox has already stated that Dragon will still be usable under OS4 (with Shark)... By replacing a good deal of the 68K JIT functions with a REAL, 68K processor. The ColdFire functions will be MUCH faster than emulated instructions on a PPC.

So no, it's not going to be stuck in OS3.x.

I do have one concern tho... Isn't the CPU card a little too close to the AGP slot? I mean that can't be good for cooling.

A4000D, A3640 OC-36.3MHz, custom tower, Mediator A4000D. Diamond Banshee 16M, Indivision AGA 4000, GVP HC+8.

Mac Mini 1.5GHz, that might run MorphOS someday, when the fools who own it come to the realization that 30 minutes just isn\'t enough time to play with it enough to decide whether or not you like it enough to cough up $200.

 - Someone please design SOME kind of DIY accelerator for the A4000. :D -

Well this is the second little visual prank Elbox has played. I'm not impressed.  They should spend their time getting somebody who is fluent in English to communicate with the public so that Elbox can understand what we're asking them and then give us answers that actually are worth something.  The email replies I got from them were pretty useless, sad to say.

As for being "limited" to 3.9 -- AROS is supposedly being extended to embrace 3.9 and move it forward.  IIRC.
And there was the recent Hyperion chat where there was uncommented banter about OS4 for "classic" Amigas. http://www.amiga.org/forums/showthread.php?t=46389

There's also something called AFA OS3.91 which uses AROS to extend 3.9.
http://www.amiga.org/forums/showthread.php?t=46385

and here:

As the person involved isn't fluent in English, it is a little hard for me to understand.

I wouldn't be too concerned, Coldfire chips run nice and cool. :-D

I have to wonder why they went to the trouble of photoshopping the background out of the image.

I've pretty much lost what little faith I had in the eventual release of this product. All of their excuses for the delays and now their silence makes it seem like they are hiding something (like they don't have the money to actually do a production run and are hoping some investor will come and save them). It would be much easier to be understanding about the situation if they would just be honest about it.

Well I guess none of this really matters anymore because I really don't have a job to have the money to buy any of this stuff.  :-(  But some day I might be able to.

Doesn't look photoshopped to me... looks like it's just sitting on a table... but I could be wrong.
