Once again, this is VERY exciting, it's like the Amiga I waited 15 or so years for, but all for less than $100, minus the registration for MorphOS itself. And on that note, I must state once again that it was VERY wise for the MorphOS team to seek support for inexpensive hardware, seeing as the OS is not cheap, this was a VERY practical move and I think one that will result in more sales down the road.

Agreed 100% Can't wait to get mine. It was shipped today but only with 256MB and a 40GB. I have an 80GB I can use but for the mem I will have to do some hunting.

Does anyone know how do I resize an HFS partition on an eMac? The instructions to dual boot MorphOS with MAC OS X mention Ubuntu Linux but is there a version for Mac PowerPC G4? I don't seem to find one. As far as I know gparted Live cd is only for Intel CPUs as well as Ubuntu. What am I missing?

Yes, Virgina, there is a ppc version.
The "unofficial" install docs had a url in paragraph five...

http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/ports/releases/jaunty/release/

RTM.....lol

Michael

or if you have leopard, use that

Ahhh the good ol' RTFM eh? LOL   Thanks mate!
I downloaded the 7.10 version for Macs but didn't work. I'll try 9.04.

First go into the MacOS hdtool thingy... disk utils or whatever it is called, and turn off journaling for the filesystem you want to shrink. Then find yourself some linux live CD that isn't way old, and boot the eMac from that. When up and running from the live CD, start gparted and do the resizing. When done, boot back into MacOS and turn on journaling again. You are now ready for booting with MorphOS CD and setting up partitions using the hdtool-thingy of MorphOS.

Thank you! I will do that. I was having problem finding the correct Ubuntu edition and version for a PPC eMac.

I used the "unofficial install" doc myself. It is a great step by step guide.
It included every thing needed. Yes, the link in paragraph five was to unbuntu 9.04 ppc.

It also includes the exact steps to resize the partitions. With screen displays.
Print it out! and follow the steps...it will work.

enjoy,
Michael

At last I have MorphOS 2.5 installed as dual-boot on my eMac and it is awesome! Thanks guys for the help. Now I need to add some more memory as 256MB is too low. Now I just need to register MOS, which is coming soon. One question I have is: What if I need to reload MOS from scratch, will the key still work after I have activated once? I only have a 40GB and I would love to replace it with a bigger HDD (80GB or 120GB) at some point.

It will work just fine.

Cool! Thanks Piru. Now all I need is time to play with MOS :-) So far it is a very neat looking OS.

The eMac will use up to two 1 gig sticks of memory (pc2700)
Quickest, best upgrade on the emac.

Yup! Right on the same page as you SACC-guy :-)
