A1200 Floppy ?
« on: June 11, 2013, 02:57:11 PM »
I was looking on the net yesterday regarding the Escom FDD mod and into the undoing of it. I ran across something but cannot remember where and want to check with you fellow 1200 owners.

Is there any truth to the statement that one of the mods that makes the pc drive works with Escom 1200s also makes it so that the drive doesen't write disks for SH*& ? Is this just a case of a bad drives if not, or is there some other common cause of not wanting to write such as the particular model of pc drive ?

I am wanting to give the crap Escom floppy the "boot"...
I gots me a Video Toaster...where do I put the bread in ?!?!

I undid the motherboard hack and hacked the drive that escom supplied so it had both disk change and ready and had no problems with it.

The motherboard hack is easy to undo & I can't see any reason why it would affect disk writing at all. Hacking the drives is harder.

Did it write like crap before you undid it ? I gather it has something to do with track 0...that is where this a1200 I have fails !

I barely used it before modding it, because most games didn't work.

I might just not like the disks because it's a high density pc floppy drive.

Well it is a pain in the butt which I can remedy, I was trying to use cross doss and wrote the disks ON a HD PC drive, it sort of reads them but won't format those or DS/DD either. I spose I'll clean it up real good and try new disks and if it is still bad , put in a real amiga model...
