GLQuake-68K benchmarks
« on: March 23, 2002, 11:32:24 PM »
In case you missed it, Beta 4 of Christian Michael's excelent GLQuake-68K has been made available on www.amiga-mediator.co.uk in the Warp3D section.

I have done a number of benchmarks, and remarkably on my system 1024x768 is *FASTER* than 320x240 with the Clickboom version!

Test system:
A3000 MK-II 060/66 64meg ram
Prometheus w/Voodoo3 3000(SGRAM)

All tests done in full screen(no size reduction), the GLQuake68K version is using the fastrender option.

screenmode | Clickboom fps | GLQuake fps
320x240------------10.8-------------23.0
400x300-------------7.8--------------21.1
512x384-------------------------------21.1
640x480-------------------------------19.9
800x600-------------------------------16.0
1024x768-----------------------------11.9

I should also state that the typical speed of the game feels MUCH faster! There is an occasional slowdown which apparently leads to this average FPS, but the feel of this version FLIES!! Christian Michael did an excelent job! I can only imagine how fast this will be in future optimised versions!  :-D
Someone has to state the obvious and that someone is me!

I will have to try this version out on my setup.  Where is a good place to get the version, and is there an update?
