Ah the venerable Faery Tale Adventure. The wonderful memories. Anyone also play Daggerfall and Entomorpgh, also very well done RPGs.

Probably the only game, other than Larn, that I played to it's completion.

I think I spent about 8 hours of every day for about 3 months, just wandering the map.

I can still answer the rhyming code to open the game too, the one that was written around the map.  :-D

Still haven't found another game as challenging, on any platform.

Cache Ya,
Craig.

Busy playing with my Trainz and loving it!

I had a Faery Tale Adventure for the Sega Genesis. It was really good, and hard to beat... but I'm not sure if it's the same version you are all talking about.

Faery Tale is hard if you play "fairly", but it gets a lot easier if you ride on the turtle and use sword many times, ask help in Chrystal palace and go to city of Marheim to get healing.

It is indeed the same as the Sega Genesis version.  I first
played it on the Genesis and became quite addicted to it for awhile.
I then played the Amiga original several years later and it's great
too.  Fun and involving game, a real classic.

Funny y'all mention this game. I was just talking about it on IRC a few days ago. I have the disk(le original), and got a copy of the map online so I can answer the questions. Haven't played it too much yet, but looks kicking.

I loved that game and just downloaded it. I am running it on an amiga emulator. It starts up fine, it gets to the title screen where it tells the name of the game and the maker and just stays there. Any ideas how to get beyond that?

THIS GAME IS SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO GOOD!

i had totally forgotten this game until today!! and i am an active gamer on oldschool stuff....jeeez.

i will boot it up later today just to get in a retro state.

anyway this game is in the class of a few other games that i grew up with.... like hybris/battle squadron/defender of the crown/wings etc..

but seriously i dont think i know of a better rpg game than this was for me, even the amazing black crypt didnt break this barrier, but then again that might be only me...

anyway atm i am enjoying another great rpg game and thats TALES OF TAMAR , you guys should check it out as its wonderfull.

cheers
Whats up with all the hate!

Sorry for being "out of the loop".
I decided to search for Faery Tale in the search engine and came up with this. My mate had an Amiga when we weer about 10 years old and this is the game we ALWAYS played! Memories flooded my mind and I had to search for it.
Now that Paul_Gadd has posted the ADF file...how do I run/play this game? I use Windows XP.
I never used emulators before and really want to play and FINISH this game.

Please advise? Thanks!

Assuming of course you own the original and are using the .adf for convenience, surf to WinUAE.net and download the emulator.

You will need access to an Amiga in order to get the ROM image required for the emulator to function. You must own the Amiga in question for this to be legal...

Only at the start of the game are the battles difficult. Once you get to about 50 bravery points you will win most battles.

Best way of getting to 50 bravery points is to try to drown your attackers.  Of course that doesn't work against witches :-(

The worst thing about the game IMHO is that there is only one city and one village, and very few people; a few more would have made things more interesting.
