Battery leakage once again...
Battery leakage once again...
Previous Image | Next Image
Description: I finally got a memory expansion for my A600. However, it looks like not only the "big box" AMIGAs are suffering from a common problem: Battery leakage.  :-(
Unfortunately, not only the battery is affected, but also the part next to it (see red arrow). I would like to replace that one also. Does anyone have this expansion and know what part this is? I guess it could be a capacitor, but it is badly oxidized so I can't really see what it is, let alone what value. The expansion board is an Alfa Data "A600 1M RAM CARD".

Those crystals are always 5V and have tolerance to work in lover voltages (they work even with just 0.7V!)

Yeah its best to replace with a CR3032 lithium cell (you can get PCB mounted holders), or not bother having a battery at all, if all you do is play syndicate and worms, why does the date and time need to be right? ;-)

Besides the big box Amiga's , also check your A500 Plus . These too use the older barrel type batteries and they rot ... Badly .

Lets hope you can manage to get it to work, those memory expansions for A600 are very hard to find.

Much cheaper than robbing one from a dual core mobo.

But not so much fun  :-D

no voltage mentioned anywhere, there are only parameters: capacity, frequency and resistance.
im sure there is only few volts, nothing to worry about.

Ah... so it probably belongs to the battery backupped clock!? Are there different electrical values for this thingy? Had a quick look at an old broken P4 mainboard, but didn't find anything similar on it...

that destroyed thingy is watch-type crystal
just replace it, they are on all old pc motherboards
