Title: CyberstormPPC max temperature
Post by: teslamaitre on April 18, 2024, 03:19:05 PM
Hi, i installed a temperature sensor under the fan of the powerPC of my Cyberstorm PPC board. I actually have 35 °C. Do you know the temperature value not to exceed to avoid damages on this board ?

Thanks.

According to datasheet for Processor, its max temp is 105 °C Deg.

The main problem and killer on BPPC and CPPC boards isn’t the CPU heat, rather the heat across the board. As it’s normally that heat that can kill RAM controller chips. On my CPPC cards I have a fan blowing across Bank 0 and 1 SiMMs to help dissipate the heat away.

Yes, the problem is not the CPU, it's the temperature of the board which can cause the desoldering of the CPU.

The best thing in my opinion is prevention is better than cure. If you can, try heatsinks on any of the chips you see in the board, that’s if you have room for them.
