Strange, I've not had any major issues with PayPal, I even accepted PayPal payments when I had my ecommerce up and running.

The only problems I've dealing with PayPal is fraud. Ebay handles fraud extremely poorly, as does eBay. I've only had one really bad fraud experience, but it is enough to tick me off :-x

PayPal usage is love/hate.
Someone has to state the obvious and that someone is me!

I had them lock my account with over $600.00 for 6 months becaue they said I had two accounts and owed them money. I will never use them again. And ebay with their insurtion fees then their final sale fees ETC ETC. I am surprised anyone on there makes money.

Paypal lessons....

1 - Heed the information at paypalsucks.

2 - Never leave $$$ sitting in your paypal account. Tranfer it out. Transfer funds in only when your going to actively use it.

3- Don't connect paypal to your credit card, and don't connect them to your primary business or personal bank accounts.

I've used them for many years without issues. But I take great precausions each time I use it. I have a couple more tips. PM me if you care to hear about them.

Worse case of fraud that actually cost me money was via VISA.  I never did make a penny on EBay, always cost me money in the long run.   :-x

So, what you're saying is that filling out a webform is beyond your level of expertise?

Yes, PayPal is a pain in the arse.

To be able to do anything you have to have a phonecall confirmation and some Irish bint even rang me up to ask what I was buying!

It took 11 days for cash from my bank account to get into the PayPal account even when it vanished from my bank within 3 days (where had it spent the other week - in a parallel universe?).

When they say 'Instant Bank Transfer' what kind of instant are they going by... the kind where the Flux Capacitor is seriously {bleep}ed?

:-D

Yes, I'm reluctant to keeping money in the PayPal account but constant spending on the card makes a real mess on your bank statement...

;-)

I have to say, I get really tired of people moaning about PayPal and eBay's charges. They are businesses after all. They don't provide the services out of the goodness of their hearts - they do it because they are businesses who are trying to make money. If you don't like that, don't use them. Sell your stuff privately and take payments by cash (and risk it getting stolen) or by money order (which will cost you even more than PayPal/eBay's charges if it's international).

As for the problems people seem to be having wth PayPal, well I must be the lucky one because I have never had a bad experience wth them.

Having said that, I can't say I agree with the amount of time it takes for your funds to transfer in to your bank account. It's clearly a ploy to hold on to your money for a bit longer and earn some more interest on it. However, this is no worse than what the bank of England do, and I think a few days delay is a small price to pay for the convenience of using PayPal/eBay.
