Jambalah Posts:71 | June 06, 2010, 08:01:49 PM I'm almost sure that is a Kona card, used with the ATTO Celerity FC-44ES Quad 4GB Fibre Channel HBA card, for real time video editing as DbAlex wrote. Here the link of Kona card: http://dv411.com/konacards.html This is a g5 (for sale) with Kona installed: http://sandiego.ebayclassifieds.com/photo-video/escondido/professional-video-editing-system-w-kona-card-raid/?ad=3061048 And here, for people that want to know more, a link for the Quad 4gb: http://www.buymac.com.au/product/atto-celerity-fc44es-quad-4gb-fibre-channel-hba-pcie Performance of those two beasties are really impressive... DBAlex Posts:304 | June 06, 2010, 07:12:19 PM Could be some sort of networking card... looks like coaxial but probably not... Could it be fibre-optic? Heres some fibre optic cables: http://images.overstock.com/f/102/3117/8h/www.overstock.com/images/products/10013931.jpg Could be needed if you have to transfer GB's of files quickly... the G5 could have been used for heavy video editing... that needs to be sent quickly across the network. Sometimes they use that sort of equipment for live events... remember reading an article about macs being used for real-time video editing for the olympics. Just an idea anyway, Alex. :-D |
