Is it hard to beat dungeon master ?
« on: August 09, 2017, 02:00:59 AM »
Hi all :

A long time ago, I played a game called dungeon master on my amiga 500.
I did not get very far, but I enjoyed the game immensely.
I loved it, and it became one of my favorite games.
A few years ago I gave it away (original copy) because I had not anymore
an amiga that would play it.
Now that I have an amiga 2000, I am thinking about getting another
copy of dungeon master (legit) to play again.
Will it be hard to beat dungeon master ?
I am aware that there is a text and video walkthu online on how to win.
Will it be hard to win with the walkthru ?
And/or will it be hard to beat without the walkthru, if I just play for fun
long hours without any hints ?
I am looking forward to play this game again.
Thank you all !!!

Depends on how good you are at that time of game and how much patience you have. ;)

+1

I beat it in the 90s without a walkthrough, took me about a month.  I was more into arcade-style games than dungeon crawlers/RPGs back then, so I'd typically play for an hour or so at a time before getting bored.

Nowadays, I have a lot more patience and focus.  YMMV.
A1200: 50mhz GVP Jaws II+, OS 3.1, 32mb Fast, 1gb HD, Indivision MKIICR, PCMCIA network
A4000D: stock 030/25, OS 3.9, 16mb Fast, 1gb HD, Picasso II, Ariadne II, IOExtender

Doesn't ring a bell. Was it available for Nintendo ?

Two can play at that game!

Nintendo?! Was that the 'toy' games system that Americans were messing around with while Europe was coding, experimenting with technology and playing proper computer games on home computers (not stupidly over priced IBM tosh with a green screen)? Proper 'computer' games such as Dungeon Master!

Seriously though I always thought the Ishar series was quite fun if you liked that sort of game and it wasn't just set in a Dungeon!

Lol!  If you wanna go there, the SSI AD&D "Gold Box" series games and EOB trump all of them.  Except for maybe Legacy of the Ancients (on C64) -- too bad that one was never ported to the Amiga!  :(

One of these days I need to get around to trying Black Crypt - always heard that was good...
