It would be of great use to us to be able to use USB joysticks and joypads on Amigas.

It's easier to use playstation pads and there are already interfaces that allow those AFAIK.
 
USB host mode is harder because most mcu's are designed for USB client mode, but it is possible to do it. Whether anyone will do it is another matter.

It's theoretically possible, but I don't know if anyone has actually done it.
 
I kinda doubt it, real amiga mice are pretty rubbish. Everyone is trying to use new mice on Amiga's
