A604n
Memory Expansion (and more) for Amiga 600
The new memory expansion card A604n is almost identical to its predecessor A604 (http://www.vesalia.de/e_a604.htm):
- 1 MB additional Chip RAM (expanding the A600 to 2 MB Chip RAM)
- Connector for RTC module (http://www.vesalia.de/e_rtcmod.htm)
- Clockports for A1200 expansion modules (*)
- Expansion socket for Indivision ECS (http://www.vesalia.de/e_indivisionecs.htm)
The on-board RTC of the A604 is replaced by the connector for the RTC module (http://www.vesalia.de/e_rtcmod.htm) (which can be fitted optionally, it is not a requirement).
The A604n, just like the A604, allows to mount an Indivision ECS without losing the floppy disk drive (which was a problem with the A603 card). Additionally, the A604n also features a second clockport especially designed for the Subway USB controller module (http://www.vesalia.de/e_subway.htm). This second clockport can boast a performance gain of 60% compared to a standard clockport, so the Subway's USB transfers are faster than ever before.
(*) Only clockport modules with a cable can be used, e.g. Delfina (http://www.vesalia.de/e_delfina.htm), Catweasel Mk2 (http://www.vesalia.de/e_catweaselmk2.htm), or Silversurfer Limited Edition (http://www.vesalia.de/e_silvsurf.htm). When using the second clockport, modifications to the metal shield may be required (if the shield is present at all).
The A604n can be installed through the trapdoor bay on the bottom without opening the case. However, it is recommended (and may be required) to open the case when installing additional modules.

ChipRAM only, no Fast RAM?

Ummm... In a stock A600 the 68000 CPU has only 24-bit addressing. You'd need an accelerator card to fix that.

Nope. You can, for example, add fastmem to an A600 using the PCMCIA slot. There is of course not as big a speedup as there is when adding fastmem to an A1200. Most 512kb expansions for the A500 were fastmem expansions. Fastmem is basically just any memory added outside the custom chips' address range.

I had the previous version and the expansion with the indi is amazing. The extra 1mb makes a lot of difference with certain games.

however, superior communist technology designed by russian comrade NedoPC allows you to add a whopping 8MB of fastram (or 5.5MB keeping PCMCIA)!

But not for the trapdoor (can't be done).

I think you can actually use both boards at once and have both 2MB of chip ram and 5.5MB fast ram, with the equally useful feature of being able to add an internal flicker fixer and scan doubler to your A600 so don't right this board off as being of little use just yet :-)
