CD32 Emulation with real USB->IDE CDROM
« on: October 07, 2021, 01:02:43 PM »
Does anybody know if it's possible to run an Amiga emulator on the PI that will do the CD32 plus use a real IDE CDROM connected to a USB port?
Specifically I want to be able to swap discs without taking CD images, as I'm toying with the idea of designing a 3D printed CD32 replica that would play real discs like the original.

I'm also interested in this!

I don't think you'd need an IDE CDROM specifically - I would imagine any CD drive hooked up to the host Pi would work. And if you need a standard 5.25" drive for your case design I would guess that a SATA-USB adapter would work, too. But I think it's a matter of what FS-UAE supports. WinUAE supports real CD drives but I don't know about FS-UAE.

I've not decided whether to do a mini-CD32 or a full size one after sourcing a usb toilet lid style CDROM drive. I guess the availability of a PI Amiga emulator that runs CDs directly other than winuae will determine that.
