How are you trying to recognize the zip drive? Do you have a mountlist entry for it in Devs/dosdrivers?

Well, you will need one to access the drive. ;D

After a search and poke on aminet (zip+drive), this one seems fairly friendly and multilingual. I can't guarantee the mountlists will work, but at least it goes into some detail on the subject;-

Apparently 3.9 has a suitable mountlist entry in the storage drawer. Drag it to devs/dosdrivers.

One for PC formatted ZIP disks too, I doubt they'd work on bigger Zip drives but should be good for you.

... If you swap leads with the CD drive - is it still not recognized? Even with zip disk inserted?

It could be a dead drive, it could be that you haven't got the EIDE99 software setup quite right.

Not sure if you need to set the drive position on tool types ("Info" from menus with icon selected). Wouldn't have thought so but have not played with one.

The things in Devs/Dosdrivers are part text file and part icon, not really drivers as such.

EDIT: The reason to try the CD on the secondary chain is to check that devices can be accessed from that socket. You will need to set the Zip drive to slave to test it on the same chain as the hard drive,

IIRC the secondary channel won't work without the EIDE99 software installed, that could be your problem.

EDITEDIT: Elbox aren't the only type of 4 way EIDE adapter.

Most relevant info I have is an arduous labour to try and get a CD-R mounted right on secondary master with 3.9.

OK... two rough categories of 4 x ide on A1200.

Ones that plug into the onboard IDE;-

software link already given for that.

4 X IDE adapters for A1200 that don't plug into onboard IDE except for hard drive light (this most recent example)
