What would a C64 do with all that RAM? Serious question, actually - I'm not trying to be difficult.
There already is a SuperCPU like expansion made by Jens with REU, SD-1541 emulation, VGA output and MUCH more..... I have one and they work very well. It is the Turbo Chameleon. This is for people that dont want/afford the Turbo Chameleon and want a REU like the CBM units but maxed with out RAM. If it is the same REU code used in the Chameleon then it should work very well. One of the nice things about the REU for the C64 was the DMA engine the REU had to move data in and out of the REU VERY fast... Almost like a blitter in some ways. Of course GEOS and other items make good use of it as well.
That is nice but I doubt the C-64 can see all of that memory at once.
Funny you say that... The Turbo Chameleon not only runs C64 in standalone mode (i.e... no c64 "dongle") but also other FPGA cores like Minimig and the C64 acts as KB (there is also a PS2 KB and Mouse plug). You can read more about it here... http://wiki.icomp.de/wiki/ChameleonI really think it is a great product for CBM enthusiasts that like c64 and Amiga.I just think it is funny when people wish there was a faster CPU solution for the C64... and there is a new device.. but then they don't buy it.
With a 16MB CMD RAMLink, Wheels 64 for the C64 and Wheels 128 for the C128will see all that memory.http://www.portcommodore.com/commvex
