Running AROS Native on x86
« on: February 08, 2008, 08:58:04 PM »
Hello all,

Today I tried AROS Live CD natively on my Machine. Kind of tired of using it on VMWARE Player.
Unfortunately both my Mouse and Keyboard (USBs from M$) were not detected and I was unable to do anything! :)
Then I went to AROS Wiki:

"Since presently AROS does not support USB, to use USB keyboards and mice you will have to enable legacy support or emulation (depending on your pc) in the BIOS.
Update 2007-03-21: Dr Michal Schulz has made an initial commit of the AROS USB stack, enabling the use of USB mice and creating the foundations to add support, subsequently, also for other devices. Please notice this is pre-alpha stage software, this means only USB 1.1 UHCI controllers are supported for now"

   1) USB Legacy was enabled at the BIOS.
   2) Well, March of 2003 is a long time ago, and I downloaded a fresh nightly build some days ago!

How's the progress of full USB support in AROS?

2) UAE algorithms would eventually be implemented automatically, to make AROS "binary compatible" with Amiga OS applications? Something like "Rosetta" in OSX?

Regards,
 :-P

Try posting on AROS-Exec.  You'll get a response on there.
