Title: Red Hat to support Linux Development for Motorola's Altivec-Enabled processors

Red Hat, Inc., the world's premier open source and Linux provider, today announced a strategic agreement with Motorola, Inc. to develop a GNUPro Linux toolchain and cross compiler for Motorola's Altivec-enabled host processors based on the PowerPC instruction set architecture. As the leader in GNUPro tool development, Red Hat will provide a complete toolchain for the PowerPC instruction set architecture with full support for Motorola's AltiVec technology.

After IBM's SIMD rumor (not compatible with Altivec, but FASTER), MOTOROLA is busy promoting their chip. Usually they just ignore the marketing and MOTOROLA depend only on Cell Phone market!

Most people ARE NOT aware that APPLE use MOTOROLA G4 CPU. They think that MOTOROLA only sell Cell Phone.

I wonder if they promote Altivec on BSD.
