Amiga 500 keyboard issue

I bought some days ago an A500 but it has keyboard problem.With keyboard the machine freezes I don't have any picture the keyboard does not work(any of the keys) just the power led is on and have no picture.When I unplugged the keyboard the machine is back to life again with picture and floppy drive clicking.

Stupid question but is the keyboard plug connected the right way around?  Not sure if it possible but always worth checking.

It could be that the keyboard controller mounted on the keyboard PCB is blown.  If so, replacing the chip or entire keyboard will fix it.
