Adaptec SCSI for PC (software)
« on: September 11, 2003, 08:50:37 PM »
I bought a CD Rom R/W  on EBay......
One of the reasons I bought it was it included
a SCSI adaptor (Adaptec AHA-1510a)  for my PC.
The EBay ad said 'Download drivers'  here.
The Adaptec site...... well it seems that they
won't let you download the installation software.
Just patches to upgrade your origonal software.
I didn't get any software with the SCSI card.....
It seems a bit silly, since the software is of no
value without the card. Whats the point ???
Anyone know anything about this???

Hi, quite often the manufacturers website can be the worse place to look. Typing the product ID into google can yield good results.

There are sites like www.downloads.com
www.zdnet.com

I'm quite tired so the old mind isn't functioning properly....
I like Amigas

@ melott

I know what you mean, I experienced this myself when I bought a OEM Adaptec card. But the most critical software is of course the drivers, and in recent versions of Windows there are usually drivers included for most of the Adaptec boards. That will get you started. Then you will find that the latest drivers for different platforms (including DOS, for use in boot disks for example) are indeed available at the adaptec site.

EDIT:

You should find drivers for your card here:
http://www.adaptec.com/worldwide/support/drivers_by_product.html?sess=no&language=English+US&cat=/Product/AHA-1510A

(But WOW, that is an ancient card! ISA and all!  :-o Perhaps you should consider an upgrade at once?)

The "EZ-SCSI" software are only available as upgrades from the webpage though ...
MorphOS is Amiga done right! :)

what OS are you using, I can send you links, or email you whatever you need most likely.

The adaptec site does have the full miniport drivers if you're using windows pre-2000 here

http://www.adaptec.com/worldwide/support/drivers_by_product.html?sess=no&language=English+US&cat=/Product/AHA-1510A

If you're using windows 2000/XP, you should use whatever drivers are built into windows.

If you're looing for EZ-SCSI software, that's another issue entirely, however, EZ-SCSI is not necessary to use the card.

Also most Adaptec cards function perfectly without software as they override the hardware interrupts for drive access, unless you need SCSI CD-ROM access that is.

Hmmm..... :-D

Sometimes I feel like an IDIOT..
Sometimes I don't......

I guess I don't use this 'Basic Box' enough.

'Plug + Play'  (or Plug + Pray)

It was there all the time....
Got it working, thanks
