CubicIDE
« on: July 28, 2019, 10:53:48 PM »
Has anyone else had any trouble buying CubicIDE from Dietmar Eilert?  I purchased it via paypal on his website, and he refunded me. When I asked him why it was refunded, he said because he won't sell to anyone that has a business associated with their Paypal account...    ???   I told him that I own a small business and I only have one paypal account and my home address is my business address. He suggested to me that I use an alternate product.....

What the #@%$?  Why would that even be an issue anyway? Wouldn't he want to sell his product to a business? What if I had a software company and wanted his product. Very strange.

Anyone else had this issue?

There are probably different kind of responsibilities involved with business sales.

Not strange at all - he has no interest in supporting businesses, and hence only wish to have private hobby users as customers - it says right there on the website - "Software is only licensed to end users, not to resellers or companies."

I am not sure but I could imagine that this might be a restriction in German law for hobby sellers who don't want to pay business taxes.

That is the first plausible answer I heard so far. Very frustrating when you just want to buy a piece of software and can't. I guess I have to create a new PayPal account that isn't associating with my business and then find someone that will let me use their address.... still weird if you ask me.

It will be nothing personal then, and I'm sure he'd like to give you the same advise regarding address and paypal account...but he can't do that.  ;)

It's illegal for him to discriminate in that way.

That's a strange and wrong opinion of yours.
